Woburn Abbey – British Teddy Bear Artist Awards – Highly Commended in Two Categories!

Great achievement in British Teddy Bear Awards 2018! Two separate Classes, Two Bears, Two Highly Commended !! Robin Hood and Johnny Bearstow! You may be able to guess which is which…….

Robin Hood was so great to make!  His expression came out so nicely as sweetly menacing I thought if there is such a thing.  Creating his arrows involved a lot of cutting of feathers and gluing with a glue gun with was a new experience for me.  I scraped the bark off a piece of willow and dampened and bent it slightly for the bow and then it is held to his hand by a magnet hidden under the grip in the middle of the bow and the corresponding magnet within the stuffing of his paw.

He wears a tunic and ‘trews’ both tied with a leather tie and has a cape with hood all of the famous Lincoln Green

Jonny Bairstow is of course a famous cricketer for England and Jonny Bearstow was created in homage to his achievements this current year in run scoring!

The lovely ginger fur was perfect for him and of course Jonny Bairstow has caught up with my bear as he now sports a bit of a beard!

I knitted a cabled white cricketing jumper and embroidered the 3 lions on the front and made the shirt, tie and trousers out of a firm white cotton.

The cricket bat was styled from wood and coated with paints to look right and the cricket ball happens to be a perfect size red marble found in my children’s toy cupboard!  Made a great Ball
